Zaad Hot Dog (450g)
Zaad Hot Dogs are an easy, family-friendly favourite – juicy, smoky and packed with flavour. Made from a blend of mechanically separated chicken and turkey, these sausages have a smooth bite and rich taste that works just as well in a classic hot dog bun as it does sliced into pasta, rice dishes or casseroles. Each 450g pack is ideal for quick dinners, BBQs, kids’ meals or movie-night snacks.
The recipe combines 60% mechanically separated chicken with 20% turkey meat, water, seasoning and a hint of smoked flavouring to give that familiar hot dog taste. The mix includes black pepper, nutmeg, sugar and salt, along with stabilisers and preservatives to help maintain texture and freshness. As always, customers should check the packaging for the most up-to-date ingredient list and possible allergen information.
Typical Ingredients:
Mechanically separated chicken (60%), water, turkey meat (20%), modified maize starch, salt, sugar, spices (black pepper, nutmeg), smoked flavouring, natural flavours, stabiliser (E451), preservative (sodium nitrite).
How to Cook:
Zaad Hot Dogs are already cooked and just need heating through, so they’re ready in minutes:
-
Boiling:
Bring a pan of water to the boil, then turn down to a gentle simmer. Add the hot dogs and heat for around 5–7 minutes until warmed through. This keeps them juicy and soft. -
Grilling:
Preheat your grill to medium. Place the hot dogs on the rack and cook for about 3–4 minutes per side until lightly browned or slightly charred for extra smoky flavour. -
Pan-Frying:
Add a little oil or butter to a frying pan and warm over medium heat. Fry the hot dogs for around 5–6 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden on the outside and hot in the centre.
Serving Ideas:
Serve in toasted hot dog buns with ketchup, mustard, mayo, relish, onions, cheese or sauerkraut. They’re also great sliced into pasta bakes, rice dishes, omelettes, loaded fries or even cold pasta salads for an easy protein boost.
Storage:
Keep refrigerated and, once opened, consume within 3 days. For longer storage, the hot dogs can be frozen in an airtight container or resealable bag. Defrost thoroughly in the fridge before heating and do not refreeze once thawed.
Zaad Hot Dogs are a handy, versatile option to keep in the fridge or freezer – quick to cook, easy to serve and enjoyed by both kids and adults alike.
