Halal British Lamb

100% Non-Stunned Halal UK Grass-Fed Pastures Chilled 48h Woolcool Delivery

Every halal lamb cut sold here is British, from bone-in leg and shoulder to French cutlets, noisettes and a half lamb carcass. It is Certified Halal, butchered by Noori Halal Butchers, who have run shops in East London across three generations.

Bone content is the decision that shapes the dish. Bone-in leg at 1.5-1.8kg and the short shank carry the collagen that nihari and slow braises need, while bone-out shoulder and leg at 1-1.2kg suit roasting, dicing and mince.

Fat is yours to choose as well. Ask for fat on or fat off on any cut, take strips at roughly 20g or 40g, and we prepare it on dispatch day, never before.

Halal British Lamb Buying Guide & Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our certified Halal butcher cuts, chilled packaging, and delivery.

Is British lamb halal?

British lamb is halal when it meets Islamic dietary requirements and is certified on that basis, so country of origin alone does not settle the question. The lamb sold here is British and reaches us through halal-certified suppliers into Noori Halal Ltd, the parent business behind Onlinemeatshop. We buy only non-stunned halal meat. The supplier certificates are published on our halal certificate page and kept current as the roster changes every few months.

Which halal lamb cut works best for slow cooking?

Shank, shoulder and neck are the lamb cuts built for slow cooking, because each carries bone and connective tissue that turns to gelatine over a couple of hours. A hind shank at 380-450g is a single generous portion, and the short shank is the piece traditionally used for nihari. Bone-out shoulder at 1-1.2kg gets you there faster once it is diced into 30-35g cubes.

How does nationwide halal lamb delivery work?

Nationwide lamb orders travel with DPD, which delivers Tuesday to Saturday, so there is no Sunday or Monday arrival. An order is dispatched the next working day and arrives the day after that. You can also pick a delivery date up to a month ahead. Across East London we use our own vans instead, Monday to Saturday.

Can I freeze lamb in the bag it arrives in?

Yes, you can freeze lamb in the vacuum-sealed bag it arrives in. Every cut arrives vacuum sealed in a food-grade bag and that seal is freezer-safe, so it goes straight into the freezer with no rewrapping. Freeze it on the day it arrives and it holds for up to 12 months; kept chilled instead, it is good for up to 6 days. Thaw overnight in the fridge and pat the meat dry before it meets a hot pan.

Can I order halal lamb with the fat left on?

Yes, fat on or fat off is a finishing choice you make on the product page, and it costs nothing either way. Keep the fat cap on a leg or shoulder if you are roasting it, or have it trimmed back for a curry or a mince. The same selector sets your piece format: thick strips at roughly 40g, thin strips at roughly 20g, or cubes down to 10-15g.

Do you sell a whole lamb or half lamb?

We sell a half lamb carcass; a whole lamb is not currently listed. If you are after a large section of the animal rather than individual cuts, the half lamb is the closest thing we sell. A carcass ships intact and carries no cutting option, so if you want it broken down, order the primals instead: bone-in leg, shoulder and saddle all carry the cutting selector. Mutton is listed separately, as a half mutton carcass.
