Cooking Guide:

Slow-Cooked Beef Heels Stew (serves approx. 3 per 500g)

Ingredients:

  • Fresh Halal British Beef Heels (Boneless)
  • Plain flour
  • Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 onions (chopped)
  • 3 carrots (sliced)
  • 3 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 2 potatoes (diced)
  • Beef stock or water
  • Bay leaves and rosemary (optional)
  • Cooking oil

Preparation:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 160°C (Fan 140°C) or Gas Mark 3.
  2. Season the Beef: Season the beef heels with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper. Lightly dust the meat with plain flour.
  3. Brown the Beef: Heat a little oil in a large pan over medium heat. Sear the beef heels on all sides for 4-5 minutes until a deep golden-brown crust forms. This step enhances the flavor of the stew.
  4. Prepare the Vegetables: In the same pan, add chopped onions, carrots, garlic, and potatoes. Sauté for a few minutes until they begin to soften.
  5. Transfer to a Casserole Dish: Place the browned beef heels and sautéed vegetables in a large casserole dish. Add enough beef stock or water to cover the meat and vegetables. For additional flavor, add bay leaves and rosemary.
  6. Slow Cook in the Oven: Cover the dish with a lid or foil and cook in the preheated oven for 3-3.5 hours, or until the beef heels are tender and gelatinous, and the stew is rich and flavorful.
  7. Rest and Serve: Let the stew rest for a few minutes. Shred or slice the beef heels and serve with the rich broth and vegetables.

Stovetop Option:
You can also slow-cook the beef heels on the stovetop by simmering the meat in the stock for 3-4 hours over low heat, ensuring it becomes tender and juicy.

Not Suitable for Microwave Cooking.

Rich in flavor and collagen, Halal British Beef Heels are perfect for hearty stews, broths, and slow-cooked meals. This cut of beef adds incredible depth and richness to any dish, making it a family favorite for cozy, comforting meals.
