Some cuts have their own pages. Chicken flats are the middle section of the wing, the part most people fry or grill. Chicken gizzard is a firm, hard-working muscle that needs a long simmer before it turns tender. Boiler chicken, also called hard chicken, has firmer meat that suits slow curries and soups.

Halal Chicken Buying Guide & Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our certified Halal butcher cuts, chilled packaging, and delivery.

Do you sell halal chicken wholesale or in bulk?

Yes, without a trade account. Many chicken cuts are sold in packs up to 10kg: boneless skinless breast, boneless thigh, leg meat, 3 joint wings, drumsticks and breast mince all go up to 10kg, and whole birds come in packs of 1, 3 or 5. There are also fixed 5kg packs of breast and oyster thigh. For regular restaurant or shop volumes, contact us.

Is your chicken free range or corn fed?

Both are available alongside the standard birds. The free range chicken is a 1.7kg bird and the corn fed and free range chicken is 1.4kg; both can be left whole or jointed, with the skin on or off. Everything else on the page is standard British chicken that is Red Tractor Approved, as the product names show. All of it is Certified Halal and sold on the whole chicken and chicken parts pages.

What is a boiler chicken?

An older, firmer bird, sometimes called a hard chicken or desi chicken, sold here as a 1.2kg boiler chicken. Its meat holds together through a long simmer, which is why it is the choice for yakhni, slow curries, soups and stock, where a young roasting bird would fall apart. Cook it low and slow for at least an hour and a half. For roasting or grilling, pick one of the standard birds on the whole chicken page instead.

Which chicken parts and cuts can I buy?

Almost every part. Bone-in: legs, thighs, drumsticks, crown and breast supreme, plus 3 joint wings, flat wings, drumlet wings and nibblets. Boneless: breast, thigh and leg meat, skin on or skinless, on the boneless chicken page. Then chicken mince, chicken offal, marinated chicken and the frozen wings, nuggets and strips.

Do you sell chicken gizzards, hearts and livers?

Yes. Chicken gizzard, chicken heart and chicken liver are each sold cleaned and whole in packs from 500g to 10kg, and together they make up the chicken offal page. Gizzards are a firm, hard-working muscle and need a long simmer or a pressure cooker before they turn tender; hearts and livers cook in minutes in a hot pan. Chicken feet are not currently listed.

How is halal chicken delivered and how should I store it?

Chicken is cut and packed on the day of dispatch and travels in a Woolcool insulated box with ice gel packs that hold 0-4C for up to 72 hours, by DPD, which delivers Tuesday to Saturday: dispatched the next working day and delivered the day after. Delivery is 6.99 under 60 pounds and free from 60 pounds, with a 15 pound minimum order. Put the chicken in the fridge as soon as it arrives, and freeze on the day anything you will not cook within a day or two.
