Cooking Guide:

Braised Beef Knuckle (serves approx. 3 per 500g)

Ingredients:

  • Fresh Halal British Beef Knuckle
  • Plain flour
  • Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • 2 carrots (sliced)
  • 2 celery stalks (sliced)
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)
  • Beef or vegetable stock
  • Bay leaves and thyme (optional)
  • Cooking oil

Preparation:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 160°C (Fan 140°C) or Gas Mark 3.
  2. Season the Beef: Season the beef knuckle with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper. Lightly dust the meat with plain flour.
  3. Brown the Beef: In a large pan, heat a little oil over medium heat. Sear the beef knuckle on all sides for 4-5 minutes until it develops a golden-brown crust.
  4. Prepare the Vegetables: Add chopped onions, carrots, celery, and minced garlic to the pan, cooking for a few minutes until softened.
  5. Transfer to a Casserole Dish: Place the browned beef and sautéed vegetables into a casserole dish. Pour in enough beef or vegetable stock to cover the meat halfway. For extra flavor, add bay leaves and thyme.
  6. Slow Cook in the Oven: Cover the casserole dish with a lid or foil and slow-cook in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the beef is tender and pulls apart easily.
  7. Rest and Serve: Once cooked, allow the beef knuckle to rest for a few minutes. Shred or slice the meat and serve with the rich braising liquid and vegetables.

Grilling or Stir-frying Option:
For faster cooking methods, slice the knuckle thinly and marinate it. Grill or stir-fry over high heat for 4-5 minutes until cooked through but still juicy.

Not Suitable for Microwave Cooking.

This lean, flavorful beef knuckle is perfect for comforting, slow-cooked meals like stews, braises, or shredded beef dishes. Enjoy a hearty meal filled with bold flavors and tender meat!
