Halal Goat Bone-In Cuts - British Young Goat Leg, Shoulder & Chops

100% Non-Stunned Halal UK Grass-Fed Pastures Chilled 48h Woolcool Delivery

Goat curry starts with goat on the bone, and this page holds the five British young goat cuts that suit it: whole leg, whole shoulder, front chops, breast ribs and neck. Young goat is lean, so bone-in formats and slow cooking are the rule. Each cut is Certified Halal and cut to order by our butchers on the day of dispatch: leave the leg whole for roasting, take 150-180g shoulder steaks, or have any of them cut into 10-15g, 25-30g or 50-60g bone-in curry pieces. Fat on or fat off is free.

Half and whole goat carcasses are on the carcass page, and the full range is under halal goat.

Halal Goat Bone-In Cuts - British Young Goat Leg, Shoulder & Chops Buying Guide & Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our certified Halal butcher cuts, chilled packaging, and delivery.

What is goat curry cut?

Goat cut into small bone-in pieces for the pot, usually 25-30g, with the bone left in for flavour. On this page every cut can be ordered that way: choose Diced 10-15g, 25-30g or 50-60g on the whole leg, shoulder or neck and the butcher cuts it on the day of dispatch. Mixed goat pieces in a 250g pack and diced 30-35g mix parts are on the halal goat page.

Is young goat the same as kid goat?

Yes. Kid and young goat are two names for the same animal, and the meat is milder and more tender than mature goat, which is why the cuts here can be roasted as well as stewed. All our goat is British young goat. It is lean, so keep it moist: cook it covered with liquid for a curry, or roast a whole leg at a low heat and baste it.

Which goat cut is best for curry?

Shoulder, then leg. The whole shoulder carries a little more fat and connective tissue, which is what a goat curry needs for two hours of simmering; the whole leg gives leaner, meatier pieces. Order either diced at 25-30g on the bone. The breast ribs, cut as riblets, are the cut for a dry masala or the grill, and the front chops are for pan-frying.

Do you sell a whole goat?

Yes. A half young goat of 7-9kg and a whole young goat of 17-19kg are both listed on the whole and half carcass page. Carcasses ship intact with no cutting option and travel the same DPD route as every other order. For anything smaller, the leg and shoulder on this page come in 500g to 4kg packs.

How is goat delivered?

Each cut is vacuum-sealed and packed in a Woolcool insulated box with ice gel packs that hold 0-4C for up to 72 hours. Nationwide orders travel with DPD, which delivers Tuesday to Saturday: dispatched the next working day and delivered the day after. Delivery is 6.99 under 75 pounds and free from 75 pounds, with a 25 pound minimum. Goat keeps up to 6 days in the fridge, or up to 12 months frozen if you freeze it on the day it arrives.
