Parathas Buying Guide & Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our certified Halal butcher cuts, chilled packaging, and delivery.

Which frozen parathas do you sell?

Four Mon Salwa packs: 20 plain parathas, 20 whole wheat parathas, 20 lachhaydar parathas, the layered flaky style, and 18 royal parathas. Plain and whole wheat are the everyday choice for breakfast with eggs or alongside a curry; lachhaydar pulls apart in layers and suits a kebab roll. They sit in our frozen food range with the samosas and spring rolls.

How do you cook frozen parathas?

Straight from the freezer, no thawing. Heat a dry frying pan or tawa over medium-high heat, lay the frozen paratha in, and cook for about a minute until the underside is blistered and golden, then flip and press the edges with a spatula for another minute or two. No oil is needed because the paratha already contains it; a little butter at the end is optional. Cook one at a time and keep the rest frozen, since the Mon Salwa parathas soften quickly once they thaw.

Do the parathas arrive frozen?

Yes. Frozen groceries travel in the same Woolcool insulated box as the fresh meat, with ice gel packs that hold 0-4C for up to 72 hours, and should go into the freezer as soon as the box is opened. DPD delivers Tuesday to Saturday: dispatched the next working day and delivered the day after. Delivery is 6.99 under 60 pounds and free from 60 pounds, with a 15 pound minimum order.

What goes well with parathas?

Anything with a gravy to mop up. A keema made with lamb mince or mutton mince, a karahi from diced chicken, or a plain egg paratha for breakfast. For a kebab roll, wrap a lachhaydar paratha around seekh kebab with onions and a chutney from the pickles and chutneys page. Chapatis, naans and rotis are on the breads, naans and chapatis page.
