Halal Beef Mince 20% Fat is a Certified Halal, British Angus beef mince with a fuller 20% fat content for extra richness. Every animal is slaughtered by the non-stunned method, Antibiotic-free and Growth hormone-free. Sold fresh in 500g to 4kg packs, it suits kofta, burgers and everyday cooking.

What Is 20% Fat Beef Mince?

This beef mince carries a 20% fat ratio built into the grind, not adjusted piece by piece — the same standard OMS mince, just a fattier cut of British Angus beef, produced in the UK, behind it. It's supplied fresh and chilled, never frozen, ready to cook or freeze at home.

How Does This Differ From Other Beef Mince Grades?

OMS also lists a 10% fat Angus beef mince and a 20-25% fat beef steak mince as separate products. This one is fixed at 20% fat with no cutting options, sold as-is in 500g, 1kg, 2kg and 4kg packs — pick it for kofta or burgers that need extra richness.

As a guide, allow around 150-200g of mince per person. A 500g pack covers 2-3 people, 1kg serves 4-6, 2kg suits 8-12 and the 4kg pack is built for bulk cooking or batch-freezing for 16 or more.

This mince is supplied fresh and chilled, never frozen. Keep it refrigerated and use it promptly, or freeze it on the day it arrives if you're not cooking it right away.

If you do freeze a pack, thaw it fully in the fridge before cooking rather than at room temperature.

Typical values per 100 g raw: 254 kcal, 17.17 g protein, 20.00 g fat. Basis: 80% lean / 20% fat beef mince. Reference: USDA FoodData Central, "Beef, ground, 80% lean meat / 20% fat, raw" (FDC 174036).

Kofta, seekh-style kebabs, meatballs in tomato or curry sauce, stuffed peppers, cottage pie topping and homemade burgers all work well with this 20% fat beef mince — the extra fat keeps South-Asian and Middle-Eastern spiced dishes moist through longer cooking.

Beef Kofta: Mix with grated onion, garlic and warming spice, shape onto skewers and grill or pan-fry — the 20% fat keeps the kofta moist with no extra oil needed.

Classic Burgers: Shape into patties and griddle a few minutes each side for an evenly cooked burger.

Meatball Bake: Roll into meatballs, brown in a hot pan, then finish in a tomato sauce in the oven.

Does 20% fat beef mince need extra oil in the pan?

No — with a 20% fat ratio, this mince renders enough of its own fat to cook without adding oil or butter to the pan.

Will it still brown well without added fat?

Yes, the higher fat content helps it brown and crisp at the edges on its own; just use a hot pan and avoid overcrowding it.

What if I want a leaner result?

Drain off excess fat after browning, or spoon some away partway through cooking if a recipe calls for a leaner finish.

How do I know it's cooked through?

Cook until no pink remains and the mince is piping hot throughout, breaking up larger pieces as it browns.
