Halal Chicken Breast Mince is finely minced, boneless, skinless breast meat from Certified Halal chicken, slaughtered by the non-stunned method, Antibiotic-free and Growth hormone-free. Sourced from British chicken produced in the UK, it's supplied ready to use, in packs from 500g up to a 10kg catering size.
Breast Mince or Thigh Mince?
This is breast mince: lean, boneless, skinless meat, not the richer, darker meat sold as thigh mince. It's milder and paler, and comes in 500g, 1kg, 2kg, 3kg, 5kg and 10kg packs, so you buy exactly the volume you need.
What's in the Pack?
It's pure breast meat, minced fine, with no bone or skin. The colour stays pale and lean, sold as-is and ready to cook straight from the pack.
How to Cook It
Cook it fast in a hot pan for 8-10 minutes, breaking it up as it browns. It also presses into a loaf tin for a spiced chicken breast mince roast at 180°C for about 45 minutes. If frozen, defrost in the fridge for around 12 hours first.
As a rough guide, allow around 150g of chicken breast mince per person. That makes the 500g pack good for 2-3 people, 1kg for 6-7, and the 5kg or 10kg packs better suited to batch cooking or catering-size orders.
Keep chicken breast mince refrigerated and use within the date on the pack. If it's frozen, defrost it in the fridge for around 12 hours before cooking, and once defrosted use it the same day rather than refreezing.
Breast mince's mild flavour and lean texture suit a spiced chicken breast mince roast pressed into a loaf tin, as well as burgers, koftas and meatballs. It also works well in South Asian-style keema, or in a Middle Eastern-style kofte kebab, since the pale meat takes on spice blends without competing with them.
- Weeknight stir-fry: brown the mince fast in a hot wok with garlic, ginger and vegetables for a quick midweek dinner.
- Spiced koftas: mix with onion, cumin and coriander, shape onto skewers and grill until firm.
- Chicken breast mince roast: press into a loaf tin with breadcrumbs and herbs, then bake at 180°C for about 45 minutes.
How much chicken breast mince do I need per person?
As a general guide, allow around 150g of chicken breast mince per person, so a 500g pack covers 2-3 people and a 1kg pack covers 6-7.
Which pack size suits a family meal?
For four to five people, the 1kg or 2kg pack gives enough mince for a main meal with a little left over.
Is the 10kg pack meant for home use?
The 10kg size is a catering-style pack, useful for batch cooking, freezing in portions, or larger gatherings rather than a single meal.
Can I split a large pack into smaller portions?
Yes, divide it into meal-sized portions before freezing so you only defrost what you need, allowing around 12 hours in the fridge per portion.
